Spending a week work experience with Felinesoft was very enlightening. Throughout my time there the staff have been absolutely wonderful, helping and guiding me through how their company performs and what it is like to work there. One of the things I love is that it is very free flowing and no pressure.
At the start of my work experience journey I was greeted by Jessica and Charlotte, both lovely people. Charlotte took me into a meeting room and went through a PowerPoint about the company with me. I was also accompanied by a new starter who went through the same introduction process as me. The PowerPoint went through pretty much everything in the business from top to bottom. It was a lot to take in at first but as my week went by I started to link things together and it became a lot simpler and easier to understand.
Jessica, the Office Administrator, made me a schedule/timetable of who I am shadowing (learning the role of) at what time. This was a great help and made me feel more comfortable in my new surroundings.
At the end of every day I would go to the temporary desk they had for me and write down some things I had gathered from each person’s role in my note book. As I was doing this I would decide whether the role was for me or not.
My favourite roles established by the end of the week include: QA (Quality Assurance) - Lukasz, HR (Human Resources) - Charlotte, UX (User Experience) - Javier, UI (User Interface) – Rodney, Business Development and Recruitment - Kerry and Finance & Accounting - Seb. The one role that didn’t appeal to me was Web Development. This was simply because I couldn’t get my head around it and I am not the greatest fan of coding in general.
After hearing what each and every department do it has given me a lot to think about career wise. This has definitely helped me and changed my future actions towards my education. I have already thought about choosing psychology for an A level course due to what some of the employees took and have said it really helped them to get where they are today.
Overall, I think that Felinesoft is a fantastic company to work for and I hope to see them again in the future.
